The Dance On Lab developed from a group of elderly people interested in dance and has been working on choreographies and pieces together with artistic director Laura Böttinger since 2016. In the joint meetings, creative processes are stimulated and the group is guided to create choreographic elements from their own experiences and movements. In addition to learning dance techniques, the focus is on encouraging participants to deal with their own movements and improvisation. Acceptance, understanding and realization are central aspects of the work phases.

Wandelland

An intergenerational cooperation project between Dance On Lab and the Rosa-Luxemburg-Gymnasium

© Dorothea Tuch

It is here – the ANTHROPOCENE, the geological age in which it is no longer nature that decisively shapes the LAND, but humanity, constantly confronted with CHANGE. In a joint collage, 70 performers aged between 10 and 80 freely explore their own texts and quotes from Nikolaj Schultz’s book ‘Landkrank’ and use dance and music to create the intergenerational entanglements of humans and nature in the ANTROPOOCENE.

Willow Tree

©Phil Dera

In this touching dance piece, we meet ten women who embark on an emotional journey. They are in search of protection from the unpleasant and often intangible challenges of life. In a world characterised by sensory overload, they are faced with the task of preserving themselves and their inner centre. Together they navigate through life’s opaque moments, encouraging each other not to fall into torpor, but to forge ahead with courage. Willow Tree is a tribute to resilience and the courage not to give up, even in life’s challenging times.

AMOURUOMA

©Yan Revazov

In AMOURUOMA, performers with life experience explore their emotional memories, which they associate with love, being in love, break-ups, jealousy and all the other facets that emerge. Images emerge from the puzzle pieces, which are expressed and performed through the body, dance and perhaps the voice. A feeling like ‘butterflies in the stomach’ may give rise to a brilliant improvised solo. A state such as ‘hurt and left alone’ may lead to a group choreography.

Tideland

Only very special images remain in us, in our bodies and our memories. From shared moments, a fan opens up to individual frames of mind. In Tideland they go in search of the common and individual understanding of things. They run across, disturb, collect and dive deep.

Life Lines

© Dorothea Tuch

Developed in collaboration with Martin Nachbar, Laura Böttinger and the dancers of the DANCE ON ENSEMBLE with amateurs 60+, Life Lines builds on the idea of a living archive within each moving body that lights up whole stories through minimal and everyday movements. Action, embodiment, space, and courage are four components that direct the performers in the process towards choreography.
